How Much Gym Flooring Do You Need?

Our tiles are 1000×1000mm — that's 1m² per tile. Calculating how many tiles you need is straightforward:

The Simple Method

  1. Measure the length and width of your room in metres
  2. Round both measurements up to the nearest metre
  3. Multiply them together — that's the number of tiles you need
  4. Add 10% for wastage and cuts around edges

Example: A 4.2m × 7.8m room → round up to 5m × 8m = 40 tiles. Add 10% = 44 tiles.

Standard vs Premium: Which Tile?

Both tiles are 20mm thick and commercial grade. The key difference is the top layer.

Standard SBR Tile (FFP24801)

The workhorse. 100% recycled SBR rubber with a finely compressed matt finish. Excellent shock absorption and noise reduction. Perfect for home gyms, weight training areas and most commercial applications.

From €37.95/tile

Best for: home gyms, weight rooms, garages, general commercial

Premium SBR + EPDM Tile (FFP24802)

All the strength of the Standard tile with an EPDM top layer added. Sweat and water resistant, non-slip, and much easier to wipe clean. Ideal for high-intensity environments where hygiene matters.

From €46.95/tile

Best for: PT studios, HIIT gyms, boxing gyms, commercial high-traffic

What Subfloor Do You Need?

Our tiles loose-lay on any flat, dry subfloor. No adhesive or special preparation required in most cases:

  • Concrete: Ideal. Ensure it's clean, dry, and reasonably level.
  • Timber/Wood Subfloor: Works well. Ensure no soft or damaged boards.
  • Existing Vinyl or Tile: Usually fine if the existing floor is flat and firmly adhered.
  • Uneven Concrete: Grind down high spots or use a self-levelling compound first.

Installation — Easier Than You Think

All tiles come with free interlocking connectors (4 per tile). Here's how to install them:

  1. Lay out all tiles dry first to plan your layout
  2. Start from the centre or a corner if the room runs wall-to-wall
  3. Interlock tiles using the free connectors — press into the pre-formed slots
  4. Cut edge tiles with a straight edge and a sharp Stanley knife — score and snap
  5. Install ramp/edge tiles around any exposed edges for a professional finish

No glue, no mess, no power tools required. Most rooms can be completed in a couple of hours.

Do You Need Ramp Tiles?

  • Create a safe bevelled transition from tile height to subfloor — removes trip hazards
  • Give the installation a professional, finished appearance
  • Available as 1000×200mm straight edge tiles and 200×200mm corner tiles
  • Order alongside your main tiles — choose matching SKUs

Caring for Your Gym Flooring

Daily

Sweep or vacuum to remove dust and debris. For Standard tiles, a dry mop works well. For Premium EPDM tiles, wipe down with a damp cloth after use.

Weekly

Mop with warm water and a mild pH-neutral detergent. Avoid bleach-based cleaners which can degrade rubber over time. Rinse and allow to dry fully.

Avoid

Do not use solvent-based cleaners, bleach, or ammonia. Avoid dragging heavy equipment across tiles — use sliders or lift equipment into position.
